Audience Theories

Theories used in the Film Industry

HIS0235-1.jpgThis is when the media is putting out a message which the audience is not prone to challenge or discuss the matter displayed. This was generally shown at the start of the 1920s where, by this time the war was starting to have an impact on the people. In this case, a form of propaganda was shown when women were sent out to help work in the factories. The message of this was very much accepted by the audience at the time especially as it could not be debated, however this type of theory is still used to make others aware of a serious matter.


Users and Gratifications Theory
There are four main reasons why people would use the media, which was introduced by Blulmer and katz. They state that "...not what does the media do to people, but what do people do with the media."
